Stuart Barnes - General Manager

Stuart Barnes
  • Stuart Barnes has been the General Manager of the WIN Sports and Entertainment Centres and the Wollongong Sportsground Trust since December 1997. He coordinated the establishment of the WIN Sports and Entertainment Centres management, staff and systems and the fit-out and implementation of facilities at the Centre and WIN Stadium.
  • Stuart has a background in venue and event management and is now heavily involved in the community and organisations in the City, especially Tourism, both in Wollongong and NSW.
  • Stuart's background in the performing arts, event and venue management, tourism and local government, offers the clients of the WIN Sports and Entertainment Centres an additional resource of advice, knowledge and skills to ensure the success of their event.

Milton O'Brien - Manager Business Development & Marketing Manager

  • Milton O'Brien has been employed at the WIN Sports and Entertainment Centres since March 1998 as the Events & Marketing Manager. Milton liaises with promoters concerning dates and possible bookings of the Venue.
  • Milton has a background in broadcast journalism and event management. Coming from a broadcasting background and then moving into public relations and onto event management, Milton has the responsibility of ensuring the venues actually have events which ultimately employ all other staff. No mean task when you consider the event days budgeted by the Business Manager. Never the less, Milton attacks this role with enthusiasm and energy.

Bill White - Manager Operations & Facilities

  • Bill White joined the WIN Sports and Entertainment Centres in September 2001 after working for five (5) years as Event Services Manager at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour. In this role, Bill oversaw events held in the 25,000 square metres of exhibition space, two (2) 5,000 pax auditoriums and over 25 meeting and break out rooms.
  • During the 2000 Olympic Games, he was SOCOG's Venue Manager for the SCEC, which hosted six (6) sports including boxing, weight lifting and judo. In his time at Darling Harbour, Bill worked on a number of premier events including the Sydney Motor Show, Sydney Boat Show, Aria Awards, international conventions and conferences with up to 7,000 delegates.
  • Bill's operational background has included a broad range of experience in event management, Staging, Operations, Catering, logistics and production. A former rugby league player who enjoys surfing and most sports, Bill is now enjoying the new challenges Wollongong has to offer.

Peter Lanyon - Manager Corporate Services

  • Peter Lanyon has been the Business Manager of the WIN Sports and Entertainment Centres since it opened in September 1998. He joined the original team in March 1998 to assist in the construction, fit-out, staffing, systems and administrative start-up of the Centre.
  • Peter's background is in financial management, business improvement consulting and strategic planning with a multinational company in Australia and the US.
  • His vision is to continually develop the WIN Sports and Entertainment Centres with WIN Stadium as financially successful businesses that will fund future growth to improve the facilities and experiences for clients, customers and staff.

Corrina Matasic - Events & Marketing Officer

  • Corrina Matasic joined the WIN Sports & Entertainment Centres team in early 1999 as their Events & Marketing Officer.  Corrina's background is in Shopping Centre Management where she specialised in customer service relations, marketing, promotions and leasing of space.
  • Corrina's role at the venue incorporates event management and marketing and she deals with clients, promoters and patrons on a daily basis attending to their various needs.  She has designed and developed the Centre's 'WEC Club' which offers reserved seating privileges for members. Corrina's other duties include that of Conference Manager where she is also involved in biding for conferences for the Wollongong region.
  • During her spare time, Corrina enjoys her role as vocal coach to students and performing as a solo vocalist.

Lenny Fairclough - Venue Services Co-Ordinator

  • Lenny Fairclough joined the WIN Sports & Entertainment Centres in August 1998 and was instrumental in setting up the venue - that is, literally unpacking boxes and shipping containers and beginning the process of logistical support to the venues' many and varied clients.
  • A Class 1 Rigger with extensive experience in the Maritime Industry, Lenny brought with him many other skills and experiences to the venue, including Certificates in Small Business Enterprise and Event Management.
  • Responding to the challenges of set-ups, pull-downs and quick turn-arounds, you can be assured that Lenny and his crew will do everything to ensure that your event runs smoothly and successfully.

Jonathan Simpson - Venue Catering Manager - Delaware North Companies Australia

  • Jonathan Simpson joined the Delaware North Companies Australia catering team as the Venue Catering Manager for the WIN Sports & Entertainment Centres in July 2003. Jonathon’s experience comprises of working extensively overseas in London and Germany and on home territory in Rockhampton, Cairns, Perth and Melbourne.
  • While studying, Jonathan worked at a number of Delaware North’s venues including Telstra Dome, Vodafone Arena, Rod Laver Arena and the Aquatic Centre.

Jackie Hall - Functions Sales Coordinator

 

  • Jackie Hall joined the Delaware North Catering Australia team in October 2003 as the venues Functions Sales Coordinator for the WIN Sports & Entertainment Centres.  Jackie's experience within the hospitality industry includes a comprehensive background in managing restaurants, function coordination and marketing and distribution of information to clients.
  • Jackie's role incorporates looking after the venue's two sporting codes being the ahm Wollongong Hawks and the St George Illawarra Dragons in addition to any other corporate events or functions hosted by the venue.
