About the Top Ten Events

  • The Wollongong IMB Hawks still hold the attendance record for a ticketed event at the WEC. The February 2005 game was the last game of the regular season and a top of the table clash. It continued the long term rivalry of the foundation clubs.
  • Ben Harper supported by Jack Johnson brought their infectious music to the WEC in April 2003 with over 5,000 people enjoying the night.
  • Australian rock band Savage Garden came close third with their own brand of pop music.
  • Live and Sugar Ray, both bands providing a night of power rock and funky soul.
  • Anthony ‘The Man’ Mundine scored a points decision over Sam Soliman in a great fight night at the WEC. You may not agree with The Man’ but it was a good fight.
  • Bryan AdamsBob Dylan opened the venue in September 1998. For many, seeing the rock legend in Wollongong was a night to remember.
  • The Seekers claim the Number 7 spot on their final Australian tour. In a night of nostalgia, the popular group took everyone through their musical history.
  • If ever a band shaped the sound of world music it was the Beach Boys. Playing a Christmas show, the distinctive harmonies and classic songs captured the audience. A night people still call the best show ever.
  • Canadian superstar Bryan Adams had never heard of Wollongong. By the time he left the stage he was well aware of the passion for rock music that this city holds. For over two and a half hours, Bryan Adams delivered hit after hit and the crowd demanded four encores.
  • The original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson produced a great set of heart felt songs and as honest a performance as you are ever likely to see and hear.

As the shows come and go, we are sure the above list will move around and shows will move into the top ten while others drop out.
