The WIN Sports and Entertainment Centres is a multi-purpose facility which stages sporting events, concerts, exhibitions, conferences, dinners and other events. The WIN Sports and Entertainment Centres comprises the WIN Entertainment Centre (WEC), Premiers Room Function Centre and the WIN Stadium. THE CONCERT VENUEOpened in 1998, the WEC has seen some of the world’s most elite performers call Wollongong home for an evening. Our top 10 performers include: P!NK, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Live, Sugar Ray, Savage Garden, Bob Dylan, The Seekers, The Beach Boys, America, Tom Jones, Brian Adams, Michael Crawford & Long Way to the Top. THE CONFERENCE VENUEThe WIN Entertainment Centre prides itself on its conference management services and, unlike other venues; we welcome your conference committee to participate in regular production meetings in order to offer our expertise, services and knowledge. With a maximum seating capacity of 6,000 patrons, the Auditorium in the WEC (on Level 1) can be configured into at least nine (9) different modes. Plenary sessions can be conducted, easily and comfortably in a tiered seating arrangement. Alternatively, delegates can be seated in either tiered seating, on the floor, or a combination of both. The Premiers Room Function Centre in the WEC (on Level 2) provides up to 5 breakout rooms that can be used in addition to Plenary sessions being held in the Main Auditorium. Alternatively it can be used as a stand-alone, flexible conference facility. THE EXHIBITION VENUEThe WEC's three major function areas, Main Auditorium (1,500sqm), Premiers Room Function Centre (700sqm), and the expansive venue Foyers (1060sqm), provide areas ideal for trade exhibitions, whether it be a stand alone Expo or a trade show held in conjunction with a primary conference event. Exhibition delivery access is via a front door entrance and a side entrance (opposite Steelers Club). The load-in area is flat and the access road is bitumen with lift access to upper levels. THE DINNER VENUEThe Auditorium
floor can host your formal dinner with style and flexibility. Able to
accommodate between 400 to 1,000 dinner delegates, clever divisions and
modular sets can easily transform the venue into a visually spectacular
scene… stage a shipwreck and dine with pirates, wander the streets of Rio
during a carnival or throw a beach party.
Whether you are hosting a corporate event, gala dinner or social party and boasting floor to ceiling glass walls giving great views of the largest sporting ground WIN Stadium and ocean views of City Beach, the Premiers Room Function Centre can provide you with the winning edge. By using acoustic-proofed walls, the Centre has the flexibility to accommodate between 10 and 340 guests in a variety of intimate or small dining settings, or cocktail events to a formal gala dinner. THE SPORTING VENUEWollongong’s major passion is sport. It’s people love sport and the WIN Sports and Entertainment Centres has hosted a number of major outdoor and indoor sporting events, including national league soccer, national league Basketball and Netball, international tennis, national and local rugby league and notably two games in the 2003 World Cup Rugby. Outdoor Sports – WIN StadiumIf you are planning an outdoor sporting event, the WIN Stadium, adjacent to the WIN Entertainment Centre, is the place to be. WIN Stadium has a venue capacity of 20,000, 9,000 seats of which are undercover, and a playing surface designed to cope with the demands of any major event. By using the resources of the adjacent WIN Entertainment Centre, an outdoor event at WIN Stadium can provide ease of operation and outstanding corporate and spectacular facilities. Indoor Sports – WIN Entertainment Centre (WEC)The WIN Entertainment Centre, given its size, versatility, flexibility, spectator capacity, equipment and functionality is wholly capable of hosting a wide range of indoor sporting events, particularly at a regional, state or national event levels. Some of the indoor sports held to date include:
Basketball, Netball, Wrestling, Boxing, Tennis, Calisthenics & Physical Culture, Dancesport and other dance styles, Gymnastics, Kung Fu and Bull riding The 1500m˛ floor is concrete based and usually dressed with carpet tiles however we are easily able to transform the auditorium to suit most indoor events. The WIN Entertainment Centre is equipped with its own in-house sports floor equipment including a portable unmarked Olympic standard basketball and Netball floor, a portable 200sqm ballroom dance floor and gymnastic apparatus fittings. OVERVIEW OF WEC FACILITIES
This level features foyer space on three (3) sides of the venue, with the fourth side housing a boutique brewery and restaurant, the Five Islands Brewing Company. Foyer spaces accommodate a Ticketek Box Office, catering snack bars and services, merchandising areas, an Artists Gallery and toilets. The foyer can also host other activities when the centre is in function mode. The Five Islands Brewing Company services patrons attending events in the centre and is also available for private functions. Open daily till late, the Brewery is an ideal place to relax with a creamy capuccino or to enjoy a scrumptious three (3) course meal. From the foyers there are eight (8) entry doors leading into the auditorium to crossover aisles where patrons either descend to the arena seating below or ascend to concourse seating above. There is ample provision on both levels for disabled seating. WEC Level 3 & 4These levels complete the fixed seating arrangements and incorporate television, radio and sound control booths in addition to various plant areas. The large roof structure and catwalks have the capacity to suspend lighting, stage, dividing curtains, scoreboard, decorations and banners. The curtain divider system can separate an area of the auditorium if full seating is not required and, with the demountable stage, implement a theatrical seating configuration at the western end of the venue. |
